Hi all,
As I already blogged in my last post I've been working on adding gstreamer mms / mmsh (microsoft mediaplayer) stream seeking support to gstreamer and thus to totem!
Since I haven't received any complaints I've now pushed the updated packages to Fedora updates / Livna. Notice that this not only adds seeking but also contains quite a few bugfixes resulting in better compatibility with streams for microsoft mediaplayer in general.
If you already have all the necessary gstreamer plugins installed, a simple (yum) update will suffice. If not
then you will need to install the following (versions are minimal versions needed), from Fedora:
gstreamer-0.10.15-1.fc8
gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10.15-1.fc8
totem-2.20.1-2.fc8
totem-mozplugin-2.20.1-2.fc8
From livna:
libmss-0.4-1.lvn8
gstreamer-ffmpeg-0.10.3-1.lvn8
gstreamer-plugins-bad-0.10.5-12.lvn8
gstreamer-plugins-ugly-0.10.6-5.lvn8
And for all my fellow Dutch men, to make clear what all these technical mumbo jumbo about mms seeking means, with these installed you can now flawlessly watch Dutch TV-programs from:
http://www.uitzendinggemist.nl/
http://www.rtl.nl/service/gemist/home/
And you can even skip the boring parts, iow most of them :) And to all non Dutch speakers, if you ever wondered what Dutch sounded like, go to the above links and hear for yourself :)
Last but not least, if you have any (non DRM) microsoft mediaplayer streams you want to watch under Fedora and they don't work with the above packages installed, please let me know and I'll see if I can fix things.
